If you look back to the great ad men of this century you'll find some incredible marketing strategies you can use for your own business. Human nature just doesn't change. Human beings will continue being sold by the same appeals that have been used for centuries.
Maxwell Sackheim ran an ad for 40 straight years... absolutely incredible! The famous ad has the headline "Do You Make These Mistakes in English?" It was done for Sherwin Cody's course on English. For an ad to run for 4 decades without a change to the copy is an incredible feat. And it was run by a savvy mail-order advertiser who counted coupons and tracked results. So you know this ad continued to make money.
He would typically write ads as if coming from the client's mouth (in their language) directly to the reader. A personal approach... he entered the conversation in their head.
Too often the newspapers, yellow pages and other media are full of small businesses with "look at me" type advertising... the ego enhancing advertising... Look at my new logo, look at my new building, look at my product features, all of which the client doesn't care about. The client wants benefits... how is your product or service going to improve their life??
